Grow a true culture of reading using Digital Reading Challenges to motivate students to read more, develop ongoing reading habits, track reading progress, and provide robust real-time data. It’s proven that reading impacts the trajectory of a child’s life. For K-12 schools, literacy is an essential component of a child’s development and academic success. Studies show that the more students read, the better their academic outcomes for fluency, vocabulary, and grammar. Students who performed better on the reading section of standardized tests in 2020 reported reading for fun more frequently. Independent and free-choice reading are two ways school librarians and teachers support students in their reading endeavors, but often find motivating students a challenge. This session will demonstrate how reading challenges can infuse gamification and digital interactions to reinforce the foundation of literacy and maximize academic outcomes for all students.
