Flipped learning utilizes educational videos for direct instruction of content outside of the classroom. Students use in class time to do practice and engage in more interesting higher-order activities. Mastery learning involves breaking skills and content into small bite-sized items that can be quickly reassessed until a desired benchmark of success us achieved. Flipped mastery learning is the combination of these two pedagogies, resulting in very high levels of achievement among students who actively try the technique. When done well, the teacher becomes the guide-on-the-side, and it can empower students to attempt to learn cooperatively and seek knowledge from many sources.

During this presentation, I will:
1) Define flipped mastery learning and why all teachers should be doing it (IMHO).
2) Share guidelines for flipped videos.
3) Show how I organize units and student-sided documents
4) Show how to track mastery
5) How to get started small and then work up to flipping the whole school year.
